Brackmills BID strengthens team with new appointment

Shabana Parkes

Brackmills Business Improvement District (BID) has appointed Shabana Parkes as administrator, reinforcing its commitment to delivering professional, responsive support to the 180-plus businesses that make up the Brackmills community.

The appointment reflects the BID’s ongoing investment in its team, ensuring that levy-paying members have a dedicated, knowledgeable point of contact for the full range of services and initiatives the BID provides.

Sara Homer, chief executive of Brackmills BID, said: “Our members deserve a high standard of service and that means having the right people in place. Shabana brings real depth of experience and a genuine enthusiasm for connecting with people and businesses. We are delighted to welcome her to the team.”

Shabana joins the BID with a career spanning employer research, stakeholder engagement and executive search. Her early career included work within the logistics sector skills council – directly relevant to the make-up of the Brackmills estate – where she developed expertise in understanding workforce priorities and translating research into practical outcomes for employers. She subsequently spent a decade recruiting senior professionals into healthcare and life sciences, work that demanded precision, careful listening and the ability to build trust quickly.

A Northampton local, Shabana was drawn to the administrator role by its variety and its connection to the community she knows well. “I love the variety in this role,” she says. “One minute you’re dealing with infrastructure, the next it’s health and wellbeing, then logistics awards. It’s a really interesting mix.”

In her new role, Shabana supports Sara and the BID board as a direct point of contact for members across the estate. She is available to help with event registrations, business directory updates, newsletter subscriptions, onboarding for new businesses, and any general enquiry about BID membership and services.

Shabana adds: “I am really looking forward to getting to know the businesses and people that make up the Brackmills community, and to demonstrating the real value that the BID adds to the estate every day.”
