An experienced hospitality professional is looking forward to being a familiar face to shoppers and business owners as he takes on a prominent new role in the town centre.
Liam Stevens has this week started as a Host for Northampton Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) – a key position that will see him be on hand to help visitors to the town and act as a point of contact for retailers and workers.
With a background that includes working at venues across the town centre including The Optimist and O’Neils, Liam brings a wealth of relevant experience to the role and said he is excited about the opportunity to help make Northampton a better place to live, work and visit.
He said: “Since moving to Northampton a few years ago I’ve got to know the place well and working in town centre pubs has given first-hand experience of the hospitality sector and the nighttime economy.
“I’m looking forward to giving businesses the chance to get more involved in how the BID operates, speaking to them to find out what they want, what ideas they have and how we can work together to turn those ideas into actual activities.
“The town centre is definitely on the way back up. I know of many venues that are seeing things picking up significantly and the pavement licences are a big help with that, creating some vibrant little areas that are attracting people back into the town.
“The BID does some amazig work for town centre businesses and I’m looking forward to being part of the team.”
Liam will work alongside fellow BID Host Balpreet Singh to liaise with business owners and ensure their voice is heard by local authority partners.
