A new ‘Night Mode ON’ guide is shining a spotlight on the town centre after dark, showcasing the breadth of hospitality, entertainment and leisure experiences available in Northampton after 6pm.
Launched by Northampton Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID), the guide is designed to encourage residents and visitors to discover more of what Northampton has to offer in the evening – from food and bars to live music and top class destinations including Royal & Derngate, Northampton Museum & Art Gallery and 78 Derngate
The online guide provides a simple way for people to plan an evening in the town centre and discover the range of businesses contributing to Northampton’s vibrant nighttime economy.
As part of the campaign, Northampton BID has also teamed up with Stagecoach to make travelling into and around the town centre more affordable throughout October, with customers able to access unlimited Stagecoach bus travel across Northampton from 6pm, through the exclusive£3 NightRider offer, giving a saving of 50 per cent based upon a return trip.
Mark Mullen, BID Manager and Chief Operations Officer at Northampton Town Centre BID, said: “Northampton has a lot going on after 6pm, and Night Mode ON is about putting that firmly on the map. From independent bars and restaurants to live entertainment and everything in between, there is a huge amount for people to discover.”
The launch coincides with Purple Flag month this October. Purple Flag is a nationally recognised accreditation scheme for town centres, recognising a commitment to safety and security in the nighttime economy. Northampton has retained the Purple Flag status for six straight years.
“Purple Flag Month is a great opportunity to celebrate the businesses, people and organisations that make our nighttime economy work, while encouraging more people to come into the town centre and experience it for themselves.”
Patrick Stringer, Commercial Director for Stagecoach, said: “We are delighted to support Northampton BID and the businesses in the town with our Nightrider offer, helping people reduce the cost of their evening out.
“Buses are critical to getting more people into town centres, and with thousands of seats available on our buses into Northampton town centre every day, we hope people will be able to take advantage of this offer and have a great night out at the wide range of food and leisure venues in the town.”
Cllr Kamala Guliyeva, Cabinet Member for Local Economy, Culture and Leisure at West Northamptonshire Council, added: “Northampton’s nighttime economy plays an important role in creating a vibrant and welcoming town centre, and Purple Flag month provides a great opportunity to showcase what the town has to offer after dark. We’re pleased to support Night Mode ON and initiatives that encourage people to explore Northampton’s hospitality, leisure and entertainment offer.”
