New Brackmills gym will ‘generate employment, support local economic activity, and provide community benefits’ to the town.
Northampton’s leading gym and fitness provider, Trilogy Active, has unveiled plans to open a new state of the art gym in the town, bolstering its presence, and bringing further health benefits to the local community.
Trilogy Active, a health and wellbeing trust, operates Cripps Recreation Centre, and Duston Sports Centre in Northampton, Belper Leisure Centre in Derbyshire and Berzerk Active Play Centres in Northampton, Derby and Birmingham. Its new state of the art gym will be situated in Scotia Close at the Brackmills Industrial Estate.
“We are delighted to announce plans for this incredibly exciting new gym for the people of Northampton.” said John Fletcher, the Managing Director of Trilogy Active. “This 10,000 square feet centre will be home to some of the most up to date and state of the art gym equipment in the town and will also offer a full timetable of fitness classes.”
Trilogy Active, who work in partnership with the University of Northampton, Northampton General Hospital and Duston Parish Council have recently been awarded ‘The Active Standard’, a nationally recognised certification that allows fitness and leisure operators to demonstrate the safety and quality of their facilities.
“It is great news for the local Northampton community as it enables us to continue our work supporting local people with specific health conditions, SEND requirements and older and younger persons.” John Fletcher continued. “It also means, as we continue to recognise the importance of balancing work life and our own health and fitness, that we can support shift workers and office staff based on the Brackmills estate.”
Plans for the new gym were approved by West Northamptonshire Council in March 2026 and include a proviso that vehicle access and parking would remain unchanged with Trilogy Active stating that traffic linked to the gym will be comfortably accommodated.
Membership of this new state of the art gym will mean users have full access to a package that will include use of Duston Sports Centre and the Cripps Recreation Centre. Existing Trilogy Active members will have access to Brackmills as part of their existing membership
Trilogy Active works closely with Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce to highlight and address the importance of work and leisure. Recent research from ‘The Happiness Index’ shows that balancing work with health and fitness is essential to reduce chronic stress, prevent burnout, and improve overall productivity.
“A healthy balance of work and fitness boosts mental health, strengthens relationships, and lowers the risk of serious health conditions like heart disease.” John Flectcher continued. “That balance also includes the direct increasing of job satisfaction, energy levels, and alertness.”
“Coupled that our new gym will create between 15 and 20 full and part time jobs in the town, there is no doubt that the opening of our Brackmills site will generate employment, it is supporting local economic activity and will provide the community benefits that our centres across the Midlands currently deliver.”
“This is a genuinely exciting time for Trilogy Active, our dedicated staff, our valued members and the whole of Northampton.” he said.
Trilogy Active will open the new state of the art gym to its members on SATURDAY 27TH JUNE 2026
